Training

If you are interested in learning to become a Gestalt Psychotherapist you can find further information, including the application process, on the Manchester Gestalt Centre web page.

Manchester offers a four-year UKCP-accredited Gestalt Psychotherapy Training Programme, alongside a one-year Foundation Year Training. The Foundation Year serves as the first year of the accredited programme but can also be taken independently. It is ideal for practitioners who wish to deepen their understanding of Gestalt psychotherapy and integrate its principles into their current practice.

All training at Manchester Gestalt Centre consists of a rich mix of inputs and presentations from trainers, group discussions, experiential exercises, skills practise and learning from group process sessions. The training aims to achieve a balance between theory, skills practise and experience.

The training team at Manchester consists of qualified and experienced trainers who subscribe to the Ethical Codes of Practice of The Gestalt Psychotherapy Institute (GPTI) and United Kingdom for Psychotherapy (UKCP). They have a strong commitment to learning as a lifelong process and to providing a safe and stimulating environment for ongoing personal and professional development.

Money… The Tip of the Iceberg

Future dates to be announced soon

Location: To be announced soon.

A two-day workshop with Martin Capps and Catherine Havard.

Catherine and Martin regularly deliver this successful workshop to give space to explore what is in the murky waters under the tip of the money iceberg. We aim to experientially explore our relationship to money, both professional and personal and how this influences the dynamic of therapy and supervision. We have found that two days is needed to allow for the group process to develop, providing a cohesive, supportive and challenging space so that you can fully explore these murky depths and challenge the stories you may spin yourself around money and it’s worth to you.

We encourage you to join us to engage in and explore this often overlooked and avoided subject area, which is particularly pertinent in the current economic climate. How do we balance our needs/wants with the needs/wants of others?

Some feedback from previous times this workshop has run:

  • “I was … really moved by the shared uncovering of parts of ourselves and our lives that are deeply touched by it.”
  • “The workshop gave me the opportunity to explore some of the deep-seated complexities I hold around money, and this enabled me to make some very real, and beneficial, changes to my practice…”
  • “I came away with a much clearer idea of my own relationship to money and its meaning in therapy”
  • “(The workshop) provided a very stimulating way into personal exploration and insight into the beliefs and values of others. Highly recommended.”
